Christmas Lights in Calgary

Bundle up the family and take a drive to see some of the great Christmas light displays in and around Calgary.

New tradition or old, it is always a fun family adventure to head out and enjoy some of the Christmas Light Displays around the city. Dress in layers, pack some hot chocolate and away you go! We have a list of some great displays to head out to see this holiday season.

Calgary Zoo Lights:

Join us for Calgary's favorite holiday tradition – ZOOLIGHTS. Head down to the Calgary Zoo with your kids, family and friends to see over 1.5 million lights twisting around trees, tracing animal and dinosaur shapes and flashing to music. Along the way, stop to warm up by the fire pits and have some fun in the Kids Zone. Dress warmly. We’ll make the hot chocolate.

  • Location: Calgary Zoo
  • Runs Nov 21 thru to Jan 3 2015 nightly from 6-9pm ( closed Christmas Day and New Years Eve)
  • Ticket price: $14/adult, $11/child, 2 & under are free. Click here to purchase your ticket.

Lions Festival of Lights  – Confederation Park

The Festival of Lights is the largest FREE drive-by Christmas Lights showcase in Calgary. It's comprised of over 105,000 lights along 14 th St NW. Designed by Dean McKenzie, Creative Intelligence Agency.  

  • Location: Confederation Park in NW Calgary, the display can be viewed along 14 St NW, South of 24 Avenue. Click here for location map
  • Runs Nov 29 thruto Jan 8, nightly from 6pm to midnight.
  • Cost: Free

Airdrie Festival of Lights

Miniature train rides: for everyone in the family,  just $2 per person.  Children 2 and under ride free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Be sure to bring your camera for this highlight of the Festival! Hot Chocolate is available every night of the Festival for only $2/cup!  It’s just the thing to sip while standing beside an open bonfire enjoying the lights of the Festival! Bonfires: Speaking of bonfires, we have two of them.

  • Runs Dec 01 thru to Dec 31 nightly from 6-9pm
  • Cost: Admission is by donation, train rides and hot chocolate are for a cost

Spruce Meadows Christmas Lights

Take a drive or walk through the 2km of lights set up around the grounds at Spruce Meadows.

  • Runs Dec 5 thru to Jan 4 nightly from 5-10pm
  • Cost: Free

Broadview Homes Light Spectacular

Come See the Greatest Lightshow South of the North Pole! Enjoy the spectacle of thousands of lights synchronized to a soundtrack playing on 96.1 FM. The Holiday Celebration of Light can be seen every night in Evanston, Redstone and Ravenswood. And there will be free hot chocolate and candy canes at the showhome all month.

  • Runs from 5 to 10 pm. Starting December 7th, the thirty minute light show will start every hour on the hour.
  • Cost: Free

Light up Okotoks

Celebrate the start of the holiday season with a visit from Santa, lighting of the Christmas tree and festive activities all through downtown!

  • Location: Downtown Okotoks (Elizabeth Street) Event info can be found here
  • Event starts at 530pm -9pm with the tree lighting at 7pm.
  • Cost: Collecting items in support of the Food Bank, Drop off at #1 McRae St.
